Starting this month, the freezer house of Van Tuyl Coldstores in Gameren will be deployed by Scholt Energy on the emergency power market (mFRR). At times when national grid operator TenneT requests it, power demand is reduced in a fully automated manner to keep the electricity grid in balance. Van Tuyl receives compensation for keeping this power available and deploying it.
Manual Frequency Restoration Reserve (mFRR)
The mFRR market, also known as emergency power, is one of the balancing markets that TenneT uses to keep the electricity grid in balance. At critical moments, this contracted power can be called upon within a maximum of 15 minutes so that the grid frequency can be quickly increased or decreased. This power can then be deployed for a maximum of 4 consecutive hours.
