COROOS and Zeeuwind close CPPA through Scholt Energy

Zeeuwind enters into a Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with COROOS through Scholt Energy. As a result, COROOS has been buying all green power from Zeeland soil since January 1. The two parties have a contract with Zeeuwind to purchase power from their Windpark Polenweg (near Borssele) for long-term purchase of the renewable energy.

The innovative power contract offers both security in producing and supplying the required megawatt hours for COROOS' facilities in Kapelle and Geldermalsen. This contract also offers certainty for Windpark Polenweg, of which Zeeuwind is the owner, that the generated electricity will be purchased. This CPPA makes a nice contribution to the energy transition.

Scholt Energy ensures that the sustainable electricity produced by Zeeuwind is directly connected to COROOS. The generated electricity is consumed locally, as the distance between the wind farm and the Kapelle site is only 17 km.

What is a CPPA?
CPPA stands for Corporate Power Purchase Agreement. This agreement allows a customer (organization or company) to purchase long-term renewable electricity from a specific producer (wind or solar farm). The agreement usually has a duration of 5 to 15 years.

What does it deliver?
For both Zeeuwind and COROOS, a CPPA offers a long-term partnership, financial security and an earnings model.

• Fixed price:
  Both the customer and producer have long-term certainty about a fixed price for renewable electricity. This protects against large price fluctuations. For a buyer such as COROOS, this offers more certainty about operational costs. Zeeuwind is assured of a stable source of income and invests this in new clean energy projects and a liveable environment.
• Direct renewable power:
  The customer buys power directly from a renewable producer. This is the most far-reaching form of sustainable electricity purchase. In this way COROOS has the guarantee that the power purchased is sustainable.
• Sustainable business:
  The customer can achieve sustainability objectives without having to build their own installation. Thus COROOS reduces its scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by as much as 35%.
• Stimulates energy transition:
  This construction makes the realization of solar and wind farms possible because of the financial securities. Thus, a CPPA stimulates energy transition.
